VOICE LESSONS
Our Voice Lessons department has two major sub-departments: Our Professional Voice Program, where we work with professional singers and aspiring pros of all ages, including professional public speakers, and our General Voice sub-department, where we work with absolute beginners as young as 5 or 6, who are non pros. (For children who are professional actors, or aspiring actors or musicians, please see our Pro Voice page.)
In the professional program, in addition to helping our pros find their true voice, we also help singers looking to enhance their sound in choir, or those “dreaming” of a singing career.
We also cover a broad range of basics, including basic song work, basic ear training, general music, and songwriting. Our general Voice program is ideal for very young students, ages 4 and up, who are interested in singing. These lessons, may be combined with piano lessons. It is highly recommended that students who study voice with us also study piano and/or guitar in order to get the best music foundation.
NOTE: ALL voice students new to BSMA, must have an initial interview and lesson with the Voice department chair, for proper placement, before registration can be finalized.
Voice Consultation Lesson Fee: $45 for children and adults. Non-pro tuition is yearly. Some students pay by monthly payment plan. PRO Rates, with Senior Instructors are given after Voice Consultation Lesson.
See tuition pricing here.
Pro and aspiring Pro student rates are given after interview and Voice Consult Lesson.
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT WILL I LEARN IN VOICE LESSONS?
Our teachers understand that every student is an individual, with personal musical needs and goals. We make it a priority to tailor how we teach and what we teach to your individual needs.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN TO SING?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn to play. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
I DON’T HAVE ANY MUSICAL BACKGROUND OR ABILITY. CAN I STILL HELP MY CHILD PRACTICE?
Yes. Even if you don't have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child's music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be projecting their voice. We also send lesson notes weekly and sometimes create videos to help in the most effective way possible.
